Design Notes

Because the protein coding region, Magainin 1, is likely cytotoxic, the protein is expressed using a SUMO fusion partner.


Source

The protein coding region of the peptide was designed de novo by the University of Melbourne 2014 iGEM team. It is based off of the naturally occurring Magainin 1 antimicrobial peptide. The promoter, ribosome binding site, and terminator are standard iGEM parts.
